Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
Life Application: In today's drive-thru, microwave, T Vo, instant message society, it is often hard to find the patience that we as Christian's are called upon by God to possess. And though there are five attributes listed above, without patience the other four will not stand. Notice that He doesn't just say they are things to strive for or work towards, but things that we should clothe ourselves in. And just like clothing, they are things that we must consciously put on each day. Without clothing we are naked, and without these five attributes our faith is naked (one definition of naked is bare, stripped, or destitute). God does not use the comparison to clothing by accident or without thought. As Christians, these are the things that should define us, the things people use to describe us, and the things that reveal the character of the One who saved us. Think about that the next time your patience is tested.
